1906 Ardsley Touring Car The Ardsley shown above was produced as a five passenger Touring Car. It was equipped with a four cylinder 4 5/8 inch bore and a 5 1/2 inch stroke and was rated at 35-40 horsepower. The engine cylinders were cast in pairs and had integral water jackets. The transmission was of the sliding gear type having three speeds forward and one reverse. At high speed a clutch engaged the engine shaft with the main transmission shaft giving a direct drive. The shifting of the gears for all speeds is done by a single lever located at the driver's seat.
1906 Ardsley Touring Car Chassis The five passenger Ardsley body was made of either laminated wood or sheet aluminum. The dash was ornate and concave of pressed steel with brass moulding. The wheel base was 100 inches and a standard tread of 56 inches.
Ardsley Carburetor One of the most important parts of the Ardsley automobile was a carburetor of it's own design. It was a float feed type with the throttle operated by means of a flange lever located on the steering wheel. The Ardsley Motor Car Co. also made carburetor's for many other American Automobile manufacturers.
