1931 Studebaker Race Car

This old 1931 Studebaker Race Car ran in the 1931, 1932 and 1933 Indianapolis 500. In 1931 it was leading the race when it went through a fence. In 1932 it finished 6th with an average speed of 110 miles per hour and in 1933 it finished 7th.

It was called the Studebaker Hunt Special No. 37. Number 37 was equipped with a straight eight 337 cubic inches engine rated at 122 horsepower. It was the same engine that powered Studebakers top of the line S-80 and S-90 President models.
