The Chevrolet Automobiles & The Chevrolet Motor Car Co.
The Chevrolet Motor Car Company
In 1911 William C. Durant and Louis Chevrolet created the Chevrolet Motor Car Co. At the same time Durant also created The Little Motor Car Co. The Chevrolet is still around today but Little only lasted about 3 years.
Durant hoped that these new American Automobile companies would help him regain control of General Motors, the corporation he founded in 1908 and lost control of in 1910.
On a spring day in 1911, work was begun in Detroit on the assembly of the very first Chevrolet. Louis Chevrolet, already a famous race driver directed this work on design and its engine.
