The Chicago Caloric Engine Co provided the engines for the Chicago automobiles. These engines were unique in that a combustible charge of air and hydrocarbon is admitted and compressed in the lower and cooler part of the cylinder The charge is then transferred to the other end of the cylinder and ignited. The gases are then exhausted and at the same time a new charge is taken in and the operations repeated. We are looking for Chicago automobile photographs or vintage Chicago Motorcycle Company advertising for this web page. In the mean time enjoy this E. A. Laboratories ad from a vintage 1916 magazine.
