1919 Cole Aero Eight Mechanical Data and Specifications for the 1919-1925 Cole Aero-Eight includes eight cylinders, high speed, 3 1/2 inch bore, 4 1/2 inch stroke, 346.4 cubic inch piston displacement, "L" heads removable, quick easy access to valves and combustion chambers, cylinder blocks and crankcase cast in two sections divided vertically, cam and pump shafts driven by helical gears, counterbalanced crank shaft, hot-spot manifold for increasing efficiency of fuel, aluminum alloy pistons, S. A. E. horsepower 39.22. with actual horsepower more than 70.
Seven different Cole models were produced in 1919, all on a 127 inch wheel base. (1) $2,595.00 Model 870 Tourster, (2) $2,595.00 Model 871 Roadster, (3) $2,595.00 Model 872 Sportster, (4) $3,795.00 Model 873 Tourcoupe, (5) $3,695.00 Model 874 Toursedan, (6) $3,595.00 Model 875 Toursedan and (7) $3,795.00 Model 877 Town Car. Body color of all models was Cole deep blue.
1920 saw an across the board price increase for the five returning Cole models. A total of nine different Cole models were produced in 1920. (1) $2,850.00 Model 870 Tourster, (2) $2,850.00 Model 871 Roadster, (3) $2,850.00 Model 872 Sportster, (4) $4,150.00 Model 878 Sportsedan, (5) $4,250.00 Model 879 Sportosine, (6) $4,050.00 Model 883 Sportcoupe (7) $4,250.00 Model 884 Tourosine, (8) $4,250.00 Model 885 Toursedan, (9) $4,150.00 Model 887 Town Car. Body colors included Cole blue with black running gear, Gray with black running gear and Aero gray and black.
A total of eight different Cole models were produced in 1921. Only the Town Car was dropped. (1) Model 870 Tourster, (2) Model 871 Roadster, (3) Model 872 Sportster, (4) Model 878 Sportsedan, (5) Model 879 Sportosine, (6) Model 883 Sportcoupe (7) Model 884 Tourosine, (8) Model 885 Toursedan. Most Body colors were Cole blue with black running gear and blue wheels. Some were painted Aero gray with matching wheels. A unique new feature on the Sportsedan was a octagon shaped rear quarter window and slanting windshield. The Cole Sportosine had a glass partition between the front and rear compartments. It was operated by an automatic regulator and made the Cole Sportosine instantly convertible from a sedan to a limousine. The Cole Tourosine was designed especially for the motorist who wanted a luxurious chauffeur driven, seven passenger enclosed automobile. Like the Sportosine, it can be changed at will into either a formal limousine or a family sedan by means of the the adjustable glass partition.
A total of eleven different Cole models were produced in 1922. Three new models included a $2,835.00 Cole Californian Tourster, $2,835 Cole Californian Sportster and a $3,685.00 Cole Suburban. Other models (1) $2,485.00 Tourster, (2) $2,485.00 Roadster, (3) $2,485.00 Sportster, (4) $3,685.00 Sportsedan, (5) $3.685.00 Sportosine, (6) $3,385.00 Sportcoupe (7) $4,185.00 Tourosine, (8) $3,685.00 Toursedan. Body colors included Cole blue and Aero gray.
Sales went down rapidly in 1923 and 1924, mainly because of a short but severe recession. Prices were sharply reduced on the 1923 and 1924 Cole Aero Eight automobiles. Some models were $500.00 lower. New features included low pressure balloon tires, wire wheels, drum type headlights, cowl ventilation and a new type of windshield that opened on the upper half.
1925 Cole Brouette 897 - The Last Cole Automobile Five unique models were produced in 1925. (1) $2,325.00 Cole Westchester Touring, (2) $2,475.00 Cole Aero-Volante Touring, (3) $3,225.00 Brouette Sedan (4) $3,225.00 Royal Sedan and a (5) $3,325.00 Royal Limousine. 1925 Cole specification remained just about the same from 1919 to 1925. 1925 was the last year for the Cole Aero and The Cole Motor Car Co. Sales were declining, competition was on the rise from GM especially Cadillac. Without any major debts Joseph Cole decided to liquidate his company rather than risking his fortune by continuing Cole production. Unfortunately Joseph Cole died suddenly of an infection on August 8, 1925, shortly before liquidation was finished.
