By 1902 the Covert Motorette horsepower was increased to 5 and the price to $500.00. Runabouts and Touring Cars were made. In 1903 the Covert Motorette went chainless and weighed about 600 pounds. The price was increased to $750.00.
1903 Covert Runabout
The 1902 and 1903 engines were of a French design with the transmission gear attached directly to the motor. The rear axles were driven with bevel gears and these American Automobiles had a top speed of 60 miles per hour. The wheels base was a short 62 inches and a 48 inch tread. 27 inch wire wheels were equipped with Dunlap tires.
Plan 1903 Covert Runabout The 1904 Covert Motorette used a water cooled single cylinder 6 horsepower engine, sliding gear transmission two speed forward and reverse. The wheel base was increased to 68 inches, tread to 54 inches and the wire wheels were replaced with artillery type wheels. This two passenger automobile weighed 750 pounds and was priced at $750.00. In 1905, the Byron V. Covert & Co. was reorganized into the Covert Motor Vehicle Co. and produced the Covert.
