The Woods Mobilette Co.
Harvey, IL
1914-1916

The Woods Mobilette Cyclecar first appeared as a prototype in 1910. However, production did not start until 1914 in Harvey, IL by the builder Francis A. Woods. Advertising claimed this Cyclecar as "America's First Cycle-Car". A typical 1914 Woods Mobilette was equipped with a four cylinder 12 horsepower water cooled engine. The transmission was a sliding gear type with two speeds forward and a reverse.

Selling price of most of the three different models was about $400.00. Below is a two passenger Woods Mobilette with side by side seating assumed to be a Model No.1. A staggered side by side seating appeared on Woods Mobilette Cyclecars in 1916 and was equipped with electric lighting and starting as extra options.
