In the early 1900s the Caille Brothers began to study the gasoline engine. Detroit was the center of the American Automobile production and was home to the Caille Bros. So it was quite natural that they looked into automoble production. By 1904 The Caille Bros. partnered up with Mechanical Engineer Stanley R. DuBrie who had experience and sucess with automobiles and marine engines.
1904 DuBrie-Caille Touring Car The Caille Bros. backed Stanley DuBrie financially in a prototype of the DuBrie-Caille automobile. The DuBrie-Caille was a Touring Car that was equipped with a two cylinder two cycle air cooled engine that developed 25 horsepower. The DuBrie-Caille Automobile received good reviews before the Caille family dropped that plan and instead manufactured a popular line of marine engines. DuBrie continued manufacturing marine engines under his name.
