The Duquesne Construction Co.
Jamestown, NY

The Duquesne Construction Co. started as the Duquesne Motor Car Co. of Buffalo, NY in 1903. The company moved to Jamestown, NY in early 1904. In Jamestown The Duquesne Construction Co. had it's own power plant, the latest machine tools, body shop and electro plating.

The Duquesne built an air cooled Touring Car with a round radiator and a number of novel features.

The Duquesne was a five passenger double side entrance Tonneau, which is entered by tilting the front seat forward. Tilting the front seat automatically opened the Tonneau door. It wheelbase was 90 inches on 32 inch x 3 1/2 inches wheels and tires. The price was fixed at $2,000.00.

The Duquesne was equipped with a air cooled four cylinder engine that was rated at 16-21 horsepower. The cylinders had a bore of 3 1/2 inch and a 4 inch stroke. A three speed planetary transmission and shaft drive was used.

The Duquesne had ingenious starting device operated by foot pedal from the front seat. The device was simple and well made. Another feature of the Duquesne was that the headlights were mounted on trunnions on the main frame and were connected to the steering gear so that as the wheels are turned the lights turn in unison with the wheels.
