With new styling, a brighter appearance and more power options than ever before the new 1953 DeSoto had an increase in production from 87,000 units in 1952 to 129,000 in 1953, the best in DeSoto's history. New models were called the Firedome and Powermaster. The Firedome was equipped with a the 160 horsepower Fire Dome V-8 and the Powermaster had a 116 horsepower 6 cylinder engine.
Eleven teeth ran across the grille and a nice looking tail fin was starting to form in the rear.
