1966 Fitch Phoenix When it was learned what government regulations had to be met for safety and emission standards, Fitch, unfortunately, decided against going any further. some features included a 95 inch wheelbase, 55 inch tread. Bulges in the front fenders hid the two spares - tire size 175 x 14 on front, 185 x 14 on rear.
1966 Fitch Phoenix The engine as mentioned above was a 170 Horsepower Chevrolet Corvair six cylinder horizontally opposed air cooled overhead valve with an aluminum block. Displacement of the Corvair engine was 164 cubic inches, bore was 3.44 and stroke 2.94 inches, compression ratio was 9.25:1, carburetor was a Weber Model 36 DCLD two-barrel. It was equipped with the same Corvair Four speed manual transmission. A top speed in excess of 130 mph was claimed.
