The Flint Motor Co. automobiles resembled the Locomobile, a company Durant purchased in 1922. 1922 Flint models included a five passenger Touring Car that was priced at $1,195.00, a four passenger Coupe priced at $1,895.00 and a five passenger Sedan priced at $1,985.00. All three shown below.
1923 Flint Touring Car The engine use in the Flint Six was a Continental six cylinder with a 3 3/8 by 5 inch bore and stroke. It developed 70 horsepower at 2,500 R.P.M. gave excellent performance and very high speeds with a gear ratio of 4.7 to 1.
1923 Flint Coupe and Sedan The carburetor was a Stromberg. While the transmission used on the 1922 models was a Warner selective sliding type with three speeds forward and reverse. The clutch was Durant's own design.
1925 Flint Six Four Door Sedan By 1925 prices were up, a Flint five passenger Touring Car was priced at $1595.00, a four passenger Coupe $2195.00, a five passenger Sedan $2285.00. A new 1925 Flint five passenger Brougham sold for $2735.00. One addition model was produced and that was a four passenger Sport Roadster. It's price was quoted upon application.
By 1926, William C. Durant sold the Flint Motor Co. plant to General Motors and moved the Flint Automobile production to Elizabeth, NJ in an attempt to bolster his failing company. The 1929 depression completely wiped out Durant and he lost over $40 million dollars in assets.
