1937

The 1937 Ford became more streamlined and styling reflected the strong influence of the Lincoln Zephyr.

1937 models were the first Fords to have their headlights mounted in the front fenders. They were also the first Fords to have all steel tops. Front and rear fenders on the 1937 Ford were curvier.

The grille on the 37 Fords with its horizontal bars and a center vertical bar cut a sharp V into the side hood area. As with the 1936 Ford the side hood cooling vents reflected the grille's general appearance.

A smaller displacement V-8 rated at 60 horsepower was introduced in the 1937 Ford. As in previous years Ford offered both Standard and Deluxe Coupe body styles. The new smaller V-8 was available on 7 Standard body styles and designated as the Model 74. The larger 85 horsepower V-8 engine was available on 7 Standard and 12 Deluxe body styles and designated the Model 74. The 60 horsepower engine was cheaper to operate than the larger V-8. However, Ford customers found the small V-8 underpowered.
