These American Automobiles were called The Fostoria Light Car and were claimed to be "The Surprise Car Of 1916". With a wheelbase of 108 inches The Fostoria's were priced from $495.00 to $825.00 with four passenger Touring Car shown below selling for $675.00.
1916 Fostoria Magazine Ad The Fostoria Light Cars were equipped with a four cylinder valve in head Sterling engine that produced 27 horsepower. Transmission had three speeds forward and reverse. Other features included cantilever rear springs, semi elliptic springs on the front, wheelbase of 108 inches, Stewart vacuum system, 15 gallon gas tank, full electric starting, lighting system, weight 1910 pounds and many other standard equipment of the time. The Fostoria Light Car Co. found itself in financial difficulties due to problems with the 27 horsepower Sterling engines they used in all of the automobiles and delivery wagons they produced. Only about 300 Fostoria Light Car were built. The Fostoria Light Car Co. was reorganized in 1917 as the Seneca Motor Car Company for the manufacture of a new car called the Seneca.
