The William Galloway Co.

William Galloway was born in 1877 on a farm near Berlin, Iowa, attended college in Illinois and began his career as a traveling salesman selling farm implements and farm equipment. In 1905 The William Galloway Co. was formed to manufacture carts and manure spreaders. Other implements were added and everything was sold by mail order (see 1917 catalog below).

William Galloway also produced the high quality Galloway wagon and beginning in 1914 an American Automobile called The Galloway Auto Transport.

The Galloway Auto Transport was equipped with a water cooled, 14.4 horsepower, two cylinder opposed, four cycle mounted under the seat.  A special Schebler one inch carburetor was used. A improved planetary two speed forward and reverse with a chain drive. 32 inch wooden wheels were used on the front and 36 inch wooden wheels on the rear.

This American Automobile was a load carrier on weekdays and passenger car on weekends.  The T 1705 was priced at $570.00 and a second seat was extra at $12.00. A top speed of 20 miles per hour, weighed in at 2,000 pounds and could carry a load of 1,500 pounds.

The 1917 catalog had over 100 pages and contained engines, pumps, manure spreaders, sawing outfits, cream separators, portable elevators and well drilling outfits. There were plows sprayers, litter carriers, incubators, brooders, grain drills and corn planters, harrows and cultivators, harness, saddles and buggies.
