The Harding Motor Car Co.
Cleveland, Ohio

Frank I. Harding formerly treasurer of the Peerless Motor Car Co and W. C. Spaulding formerly president of a large knitting company were the founders of the Harding Motor Car Co. which will manufacture and market the Harding automobile.

The Harding was one of the first American Automobiles with a 12 cylinder engine. This Harding twelve engine was designed by engineer Nathan Wyeth

The 1916 Harding Touring Car had distinctive features with its foreign body design. Instead of straight lines the Harding had streamline type curves blending into each other from the radiator through the hood cowl and body to the rear.

The Harding was a large seven passenger automobile with a 132 inch wheelbase. It had a factory price of $2,000 that included a Khaki top.

The twin six engine used in the Harding had the cylinders casted in two blocks and mounted on separate crank cases at an angle of 60 degress. The cylinder heads are removable. The 12 cylinder L head engine had a displacement of 713 cubic inch, a bore of 2 inches by a stroke of 5 inches. A single camshaft with twenty four integral cams is used and lubrication is by the pressure system.

The problem of obtaining materials in the midst of World War 1 production efforts caused The Harding Motor Car Co. stop production in 1917. Very few Harding automobiles were producted.
