The Harrison was originally designed by A. C. Menges and named after William Harrison. The first Harrison automobile was a Runabout shown below. It had a 94 inch wheel base and a two cylinder engine mounted under the seat. Steering was by tiller, three speed transmission and final drive was by chain.
1905 Harrison Model A Runabout The 1906 Harrison Model B Touring Car had a wheel base of 115 inches with 36 inches wheels. It had a side entrance body seating seven passengers. The model B eventually became a very large automobile with 120 inch wheelbase that sold for nearly $5,000.00. That price included a cape top, storm curtains, mats, horn, tools and five lamps.
1906 Harrison Wagon Co. Magazine Advertisement Most Harrison automobiles were equipped with a vertical four cylinder engine. A unique feature was a self starting system which introduced acetylene into the proper cylinder for starting by spark. Transmission was a sliding gear type with three forward and reverse.
