The Hydromotor some times called the Hydrometer was the invention of William Mazzei and The Automobile Boat Mfg. Co. of Seattle, Washington. The Hydromotor was an American Automobile that traveled on land or water without mechanical change. It was an early attempt at building an amphibian car.

William Mazzei's Hydrometer claimed speeds of 60 miles an hour on land and 25 miles an hour on water.

The Hydromotor was equipped with a Continental engine and transmission. It had an aluminum body built along the lines of a boat. The propeller and rudder are located at the rear and when the automobile boat enters the water the drive wheels lock and the engine drives the propeller. The steering wheel operated both the rudder and front wheels.

The Hydrometer, bore a striking resemblance to the German made Rumpler (shown below) designer by inventor William Mazzei. The Rumpler Tropfenwagen or "Rumpler drop car" named after its shape was a car developed by Austrian engineer Edmund Rumpler.
