The specifications are as follows: The Ideal Gasoline Carriage used a five horsepower, single cylinder, horizontal engine and a three speed transmission. The overall length was 8 feet 10 inches, width was 4 feet 8 inches with a height of 5 feet. Wheelbase was 68 inches on wheels that were 28 inches in diameter. Weight was 1,200 pounds, seat measured 3 feet. The gas tank held enough gasoline to travel from 100 to 150 miles. Maximum speed was 20 to 25 miles per hour. Steering was by tiller.
1903 Ideal - B. and P. Gasoline Carriage In the only known image of this American Automobile it shows how the runabout body can be tilted back to service the engine and chissis. The B. & P. Co. also made several different designs of gasoline engines for other American Automobile manufacturers. The company also made steam engines for heavy trucks, but did not make steam cars. They made a very good gas powered and steam engines and stopped producing automobiles by 1904 to produce only engines.
