The Kearns Automobile & The Kearns Motor Buggy Co.
The Eureka name was changed to Kearns sometime in late 1909 or early 1910. From 1910 to 1912 similar automobiles were made. Just like the Eureka, the Kearns were motor buggies equipped with two cylinder 14 horsepower or three cylinder 20 horsepower engines. By 1912 a four cylinder 32 horsepower was produced. All Eureka and Kearns were typical high wheelers with chain drive and solid tires from 1908 to 1912. They differed from most by having round hood like the 1910 Kearns shown below.
1910 Kearns - The Kearns Motor Buggy Co. Shown below is a 1912 Kearns equipped with a three cylinder air cooled 18 horsepower and like the other Kearns engines were two cycle. These friction drive engines were gearless, valveless and clutchess. In 1913 the same engine was rated at 26.4 horsepower. In 1914 yet another engine was equipped in the Kearns.
1912 Kearns - The Kearns Motor Buggy Co. In mid-1915 Kearns introduced the Trio, which was in essence three cars in one. Available as a runabout, touring or light delivery, any of these bodies could be fastened to the same frame by use of only four bolts. Shown below is a Runabout. Kearns made only trucks after 1916, carrying on this business until 1928.
