1911 Kline Kar The first Kline Kars were built in York, PA by The B. C. K. Motor Co. in 1910 and 1911. As many as 11 different models with various equipment were offered in six and four cylinder engines. Six cylinder 50 horsepower Kline Kars were produced as a five and seven passenger Touring Cars, four passenger Toy Tonneau and a two passenger Roadster. Four cylinder 40 horsepower and 30 horsepower Kline Kars were produced as a five passenger Touring Car, four passenger Toy Tonneau and a two passenger Runabout. Prices for these American Automobiles ranged from $3,250.00 to $1,415.00.
1913 Kline Kar By the end of 1911 The B. C. K. Motor Co. reorganized into The Kline Motor Car Corp. This new company then moved it's main factory to Richmond, VA. In 1913 a full line four and six cylinder automobiles that developed 30, 40 50 and 60 horsepower were produced. Models consisted 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7 passengers.
1914 Kline Kar specifications for the seven passenger $2,985.00 6-60 and the $2,585.00 6-50 Touring Car include a six cylinder with 44.8 horsepower, 133 inch wheelbase, 37 x 5 inch wheels and tires, four speed transmission and shaft drive. 1915 Kline Kar line up included a $1,750.00 two passenger Runabout, $2,400.00 two passenger Coupe, $1,750.00 five passenger Touring Car, $1,850.00 seven passenger Touring Car and $2,850 five and seven passenger Limousines.
The above specifications for a 1916 Kline Kar Model 6-36 Touring Car included the paint colors, seating capacity, wheelbase, tire sizes, horsepower, number of cylinders, bore and stroke, transmission and electrical specs. By 1917 prices of the Kline Kar were down. The model 6-38 Touring Car sold for $1195.00, a four passenger Shamrock Roadster was the same price and a two and three passenger Roadster had a retail price of $1175.00.
Early engines were made by The B. C. K. Motor Co. and The Kline Motor Car Corp. After the move to Richmond, VA engines made by the Kirkham Machine Co. of Bath, NY were used. 1918 and after used Continental engines. By 1922 sales of the Kline Kar had slumped. In 1923 The Kline Motor Car Corp. stopped production along with many other American Automobile manufacturers.
