The Madison Motors Co.
Madison, Indiana

The Madison was an American Automobile built from 1915 to 1919 by the Madison Motors Co. of Madison, Indiana. All Madison's were assembled cars and built in small number of about 400 units.

Their first automobiles were two passenger and four passenger roadsters.

By 1916 and 1917 they were also producing a seven passenger Touring Cars like the one shown below with a $1150.00 selling price. Production had exceeded about 350 automobiles by 1917 when The Madison Motors Co. had serious financial difficulties. Most of the Madison were sold and serviced locally in Madison, Indiana. During 1918 and 1919 a few Madison automobiles were built from existing parts.

All of the Madison Automobiles were powered by a Rutenber L-head six cylinder engine that developed about 40 horsepower. Transmission was a three speed forward and reverse. Features include a Wheel base of 124 inches, electric starting, lighting and ignition by Remy, Rayfield carburetor, Muncie clutch, wheels 34 inches x 4 inches and Goodyear tires.

Only choice of body color was Richelieu Blue with a bright leather interior.

Additional equipment included electric horn, Stewart Warner speedometer, ventilating rain vision windshield, tire carrier, tools, air pump and a jack.

In the Madison Motors Co. advertising above they claim that "A remarkable example of moderate price combined with sterling quality, style and appearance. Unsurpassed by cars selling for $1500.00 or over. The new Madison Six gives you luxury without extravagance."
