Apparently around the time the Martin Dart bombed James V. Martin dived into another project. The Martin Aerodynamic's (shown below) were two radically streamlined two and four passenger sedans. Both incorporated numerous airplane design features.
1932 Martin Aerodynamic The larger four passenger Aerodynamic used a four cylinder Continental engine mounted in the rear and the radiator up front. This engine was rated at 60 horsepower and had 153 cubic inches. The transaxle was built by Detroit Gear and Machine. Top speed was reported at figures varying between 85 and 110 MPH.
1932 Martin Aerodynamic Both the four wheeled and three wheeled were experimental and never got into production. It is assumed that lack of funding was the reason. Both automobiles were widely acclaimed in car and scientific journals. Reports that General Billy Mitchell was evolved in the design or production were not true. However it is possible that Martin got Mitchell's endorsement.
Restored 1932 Martin Aerodynamic The four wheeled and three wheeled Aerodynamic's automobiles used one of James Martin inventions. It was called the aviator-cord suspension system. This suspension system was also used on the Martin Dart.

1932 Martin Aerodynamic Three Wheeler The smaller three wheeled two passenger Aerodynamic used an American Austin engine mounted transversely across the back. The engine drove a single rear wheel via twin V-belts. Top speed was reported at 75 MPH. Like the larger Aerodynamic automobile the three wheeled version had independent aviator-cord suspension on all three wheels.
