Maurice Wolfe purchased The Clark Motor Car Co. in 1912. The Clark Motor Car Co. produced the Clark from 1910 to 1912 in Shelbyville. The Clark Motor Car Co. then became The Meteor Motor Car Co. and Wolfe produced a new car called the Meteor.

He continued to produce American Automobiles in Shelbyville under the Meteor name in 1912. However, Wolfe soon move the company to Piqua, Ohio and expanded production of the Meteor. The Meteor was produced as Touring Cars and Roadster using Continental or Model six-cylinder engines. In 1916 a V-12 Weidely engine was promoted in one of their automobiles. After 1916 The Meteor Motor Car Co. made ambulances and hearses. Prior to the Meteor, Maurice Wolfe was connected with The H. E. Wilcox Motor Car Co. The company produced an American Automobile called the Wolfe that he designed.
