1916 Metz Model 25 Roadster The Metz 25 was furnish with a fiber grip transmission that was operated by a single lever providing seven speeds forward and reverse. By movement of the lever the Friction drive or Gearless Transmission the Metz 25 could be moved forward at a slow pace or up to 40 MPH.
In the two 1916 Metz 25 advertisements above - claims made included "The Quality Car - Just for Two" - "It Is Delightfully Pleasing and Graceful In Design Elegantly Finished Inside and Out" and "$600.00 Completely equipped Including Electric Starter and Electric Lights".
1916 Metz 25 Touring Car and Roadster Metz production figures in 1915 were 7,200 units, including exports over seas. In fact the Metz 25 Touring Car was the best selling American Automobile outside the United states. As mentioned above the cost of 1915 and 1916 Metz 25 automobiles was only $600.00. However, in 1917 the cost of a Metz was $55.00 less. Although the price cut was short lived due to refinements and improvement late in 1917.

1917 Metz Touring Car No Metz automobiles were manufactured in 1918 due to World War I. During the war the U.S. Government took over the plant to make airplane parts. After World War I styles had changed but the Government never paid The Metz Company enough to retool. Some plants were sold to raise money for the next generation of Metz cars, the Metz Master Six.
