1919 Meyer 9 passenger Touring Car Pneumatic wheels together with springs smooth out bumps with a gentle up and down movement. The patented wheels on the Meyer were made of pressed steel and welded to the shell of the hub. Inside the hub shell were the collar and bearings. Between the hub shell and bearing collor was an unusual construction of rubber wedges. The tires were not pneumatic but made of hollow rubber and were very flexable. The Meyers was equipped with a specially designed automatic gear shift. When the Meyer was stopped the transmission automatically was set in starting speed and the clutch was disengaged. By pressing a small foot lever the Meyer would move ahead in running speed or any gear desired. We are looking for Meyer automobile photographs or vintage Meyer advertising for this web page. In the mean time enjoy this Splitdorf Magneto ad from a vintage 1919 magazine.
