The Rockaway Automobile & The Rockaway Automobile Co.

The Rockaway was equipped with a single cylinder watercooled engine that developed eight horsepower. It was mounted under the hood in front so as to be easily accessible, and it was also very simple in design. An unusual brass hood was over the engine. The wheelbase was 70 inches and had a 56 inch track. The frame was made of angle steel, with the joints braced and riveted. The transmission was by planetary system giving two forward speeds and reverse, which are obtained by one lever, which also controls the throttle and sparking. The steering was by a wheel of the lock-worm gear type and wooden wheels were used.
