1909 Simplex Toy Tonneau Production of a 30-35 horsepower S & M Simplex continued in 1907. It was soon replaced by a Simplex Toy Tonneau and Touring Car in 1909. The 1909 seven passenger Simplex Touring Car was equipped with a water cooled four cylinder engine that developed 50-53 horsepower, four speed transmission and double chain drive. Features included a 129 inch wheelbase, 56 inch gauge, 36 inch x 4 inch wheels and tires and jump spark ignition.

1910 Simplex Touring Car By 1910 a 50 and 90 horsepower engine was available on the Simplex Touring Car. This new engine began to win races and sales of the Simplex increased. In the above 1910 Simplex advertisement sales office was located at 1860 Broadway New York, NY and the factory was located at 614 East 83rd Street.
1912 Simplex Roadster Racing Car This 1912 Simplex Racing Car consists of a Simplex "50" stock chassis with a body build by Holbrook. It was equipped with a 50 horsepower four cylinder engine, cast two in a block, with a T-head, two spark ignition and a chain drive. In 1912 Herman Broesel died and in 1913 his sons sold the company to Bankers Goodrich, Lockhart and Smith of New York, NY. Simplex output during the Broesel era was 235 to 250 automobiles. It was about this time that some production was moved to New Brunswick, New Jersey.
In the final two years of Simplex production a six cylinder engine that developed 46 horsepower was used. This six cylinder engine was a product of The Crane Motor Co. which The Simplex Automobile Co. purchased in 1914. This engine differed in having the cylinders cast in two blocks of three instead of three pairs. A selective sliding gear four speed transmission was used along with shaft drive. Features included 143 1/2 inch wheelbase, wood wheels, electric starter, electric lighting, dash instruments, jack and tools. The final year for the Simplex was 1917. The Simplex evolved into the Crane-Simplex as a product of the The Simplex Automobile Co. During World War I The Simplex Automobile Co. switched over to production of aircraft engines.
