It was equipped with a 20 horsepower four cylinder engine, selective sliding gear type transmission, Schebler model D carburetor, Remy Magneto and shaft drive. The Whiting Roadster was priced at $850.00, it was advertised as a manufactured car and not an assembled car.
![]() 1911 Whiting Touring Car In the above 1911 Whiting advertising a Model C Touring Car with a Torpedo Body is featured. It could seat five passengers, had a 110 inch wheel base, 56 inch tread, 34 x 6 inch wheels and tires, two gas lamps, two side lamps, tail lamps, horn and a complete set of tools. The $1.600.00 1911 Whiting was equipped with a four cylinder engine that developed 40 horsepower, sliding gear three speeds forward and reverse transmission and Schebler carburetor. In 1903 James H. Whiting convinced his partners to buy the Buick Motor Car Company of Detroit, Michigan and move it to Flint, Michigan. Whiting became President while David Buick was General Manager. In 1904, Whiting persuaded William C. Durant to become General Manager of Buick.
