The Zent was a second attempt by Schuyler Zent to build an American Automobile. His first automobile was the Zentmobile built in Evansville, IN from 1900 to 1903 by the Single Center Buggy Co. In 1904 S. H. Zent set up a new factory in Bellefontaine, Ohio and made a larger car called the Zent.

This was a Touring Car with a 18 horsepower three cylinder engine and for 1906 it was joined by a 14 horsepower two cylinder later by a air cooled 35 horsepower four cylinder automobile. In early 1907 the company name was changed to Bellefontaine Automobile Co. and the cars were named the Traveler.
