The image shown below is the No. 8 ALCO Racer that was driven by Harry Grant in the 1909 Vanderbilt Cup race held on Long Island, NY. Harry Grant and his mechanic Frank Lee won the 1909 and 1910 Vanderbilt Cup race.

This American Automobile race car was found in a barn in the 1930s. It has been totally restored.

This powerful ALCO Racer was built by The American Locomotive Automobile Co. in Providence, RI. The ALCO was a high quality luxurious American Automobile.

The No 18 ALCO Racer is shown below along with Harry Grant and his mechanic Frank Lee. No. 8 was the ALCO Racer driven in the 1909 Vanderbilt Cup race and No. 18 was driven in the 1910 Vanderbilt Cup race.

The 1910 magazine advertisement shown below is really an announcement that the ALCO automobile was a two time winner of the Vanderbilt Cup in 1909 and 1910.  These two races were enter by 30 automobile including foreign and domestic.  The average speed of the ALCO Racers was 65 MPH over 278 miles.
