Sandusky, Ohio

The Eagle Macomber and the Eagle Macomber seven cylinder rotary engine was developed by W. G. Macomber. The seven cylinder rotary engine was a rare design. Production ran from 1914 to 1918 in Sandusky, Ohio.

The Eagle Macomber was considered a cyclecar and produced as a four passenger roadster with clean lines and a neat appearance. This model sold for less than $1,000.00.

The Eagle Macomber rotary engine had all seven cylinders mounted parallel to the drive shaft was an amazing sight on this sporty Cycle car. The engine weighed only 250 pounds and developed 50 horsepower.

The Eagle Macomber rotary engine was manufactured in several sizes. A small 12 horsepower engine was so light that it could be carried by one man. The engine ran smoothly even on loose mounting at 1500 RPM.

The entire principle depends on a revolving angle plate with connecting rods affixed. The combustion in the cylinder forced the connecting rod back against the angle plate. Since the plate was on an angle it would have a tendency to turn away from the motion of the connecting rod. This resulting in turning of the drive shaft.
