Based in Chicago, IL from 1899 to 1902 the American Electric Vehicle Co. produced eleven different American Electric automobiles for business and pleasure.
In 1902 the American Electric Vehicle Co. moved there operation to Hoboken, NJ to appeal to more wealthy customers. However, the company went into receivership the same year.

American road buggy with top for 2 passengers. Front wheels were 32 inches and rear wheels 36 inches. This Electric was capable of reaching 17 miles per hour.

This early 1900 American Electric Automobile was called a "dos-a-dos" or "back to back". Which means the seats and therefore the passengers were seated back to back. Note that the general office of the American Electric Vehicle Co. was in New York city.
